Devil at the Dance

A girl in Texas was excited about the high school dance. She had a new dress for the occasion and she was sure that she would be beautiful. She thought it would be the highlight of her young life.

Her mother came home, pale and shaking, and said, "You are not going to the dance!"

The girl asked, "Why?!"

"I just got done talking to the preacher. He said that the dance is for the devil. You are forbidden to go!"

The girl nodded. However, when her mother was busy, she put on her dress and snuck out. She quickly drove to the dance.

As soon as she walked into the gymnasium and everyone looked at her. She was startled by the attention. Her mother accused her of bringing to awkward to get a boyfriend. There was nothing awkward about her on this night. The young men fought over who would dance with her.

At one point, she broke away from the crowd to get some punch. Suddenly, everyone was quiet and the music had stopped. She looked and the most handsome she had seen was next to her. His jet black hair was greeced back and he had a black suit on.

"You will dance with me," he said.

She stammered out a "yes". He led her out to the dance floor. She was amazed. She was dancing better than she had ever danced before. All eyes were on them.

When the man spun her around, she gasped for breath. She tried to spin out, but she was spinning too fast. Her feet felt hot and it felt like the floor was melting beneath her. She looked down. Instead of shoes, the man had hooves.

He spun her faster. Dust covered them from her spinning, hiddng them from the view of the onlookers. When the dust settled, the girl was gone. The man in black bowed and disappeared. The devil had come to his party and spun the girl to hell.
