This tunnel is officially named the Merritton Tunnel, but everyone calls it the Blue Ghost Tunnel for one of the apparitions that lives inside.
Construction of the tunnel was completed in 1876 and used full-time until 1887, when it was only used part time. In 1915, the tunnel was shut down. Why? Well, for the numerous strange and tragic things that happened during the 39 years it was in use.
Suicides, murders, and accidents all happened within this tunnel. Now, the ghosts that live inside do strange things to get attention.
