Berlin Citadel

This used to be a prison, but became home to a spooky love story.

In the late fifteenth century, Joachim II ruled Germany. He had a lover by the name of Anna Sydow. They were madly in love with each other, but Joachim's son hated the young woman.

Upon Joachim's deathbed, he asked his son to take care of his lover. He did not. The son threw Sydow into the prison, where she spent the remainder of her days.

It is said that she still roams the halls of the citadel. She cannot escape. She cannot find peace. She cannot find closure.
